The Geological Society of Maine organizes three events each year - a spring meeting, a summer field trip, and a fall meeting. Visit the News page for information on the upcoming meeting. When meeting registration is open you can sign up on our Upcoming Events page.
Spring Meetings
The spring meeting program consists of student research oral and poster presentations, with students from Maine colleges, universities, and high schools participating. Cash awards from the Walter Anderson Fund are given to the best oral and best poster presentation, chosen by a panel of geologists.

Spring Meeting Rotation: Spring meetings are traditionally hosted by geology or earth science departments at Maine colleges and universities. The established rotation, which is subject to change is the order shown below.

Summer Field Trips
The summer field trip program usually includes a weekend itinerary of field visits to geologic localities in a region that are interesting from a bedrock, surficial, hydrogeologic, and/or environmental geology perspective. A banquet or cookout is held Saturday evening.​
